Ruqiya

أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

U'idhukuma bi-kalimatillahit-tammah, min kulli shaytanin wa hammah, wa min kulli 'aynin lammah.

I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous creature, and from every evil eye. — The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn with these words.

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

A'udhu bi-kalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq.

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ، وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma'as-mihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama', wa huwas-Sami'ul-'Alim.

In the name of Allah with whose name nothing can cause harm on earth or in heaven, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqina imama.

Our Lord, grant us comfort of the eyes from our spouses and offspring, and make us leaders of the righteous.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۞ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ۞ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۞ مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ ۞ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ۞ اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ ۞ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil-'alamin. Ar-Rahmanir-Rahim. Maliki yawmid-din. Iyyaka na'budu wa iyyaka nasta'in. Ihdinas-siratal-mustaqim. Siratal-ladhina an'amta 'alayhim, ghayril-maghdubi 'alayhim wa lad-dallin.

The opening chapter — the greatest surah — used by the companions to cure a person stung by a scorpion.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

Allahu la ilaha illa huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum… wa huwal-'Aliyyul-'Azim.

The Throne Verse — the greatest verse of the Qur'an, powerful protection from Shaytan.

آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۚ كُلٌّ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْ رُسُلِهِ ۚ وَقَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ ۞ لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا

Amanar-rasulu bima unzila ilayhi min-Rabbihi wal-mu'minun… la yukalliful-lahu nafsan illa wus'aha…

Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him.

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ۞ اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ ۞ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ۞ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

Qul huwa Allahu ahad, Allahus-Samad, lam yalid wa lam yulad, wa lam yakun-lahu kufuwan ahad.

Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ۞ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ۞ وَمِنْ شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ۞ وَمِنْ شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ ۞ وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

Qul a'udhu bi Rabbil-falaq, min sharri ma khalaq, wa min sharri ghasiqin idha waqab, wa min sharrin-naffathati fil-'uqad, wa min sharri hasidin idha hasad.

Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, from the evil of that which He created, from the evil of darkness when it settles, from the evil of the blowers in knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies.

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ ۞ مَلِكِ النَّاسِ ۞ إِلَهِ النَّاسِ ۞ مِنْ شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ ۞ الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ ۞ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ

Qul a'udhu bi Rabbin-nas, Malikin-nas, Ilahin-nas, min sharril-waswasil-khannas, alladhi yuwaswisu fi sudurin-nas, minal-jinnati wan-nas.

Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the retreating whisperer who whispers in the breasts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind.

أَذْهِبِ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، اشْفِ وَأَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

Adhhibil-ba'sa Rabban-nas, ishfi wa antash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uk, shifa'an la yughadiru saqama.

Remove the harm, O Lord of mankind. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no cure except Your cure — a cure that leaves no illness behind.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ (x3)، أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ (x7)

Bismillah (x3), a'udhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhir (x7).

In the name of Allah (three times). I seek refuge in Allah and in His power from the evil of what I feel and fear (seven times).

أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ الَّذِي لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أَعْظَمَ مِنْهُ، وَبِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ الَّتِي لَا يُجَاوِزُهُنَّ بَرٌّ وَلَا فَاجِرٌ، وَبِأَسْمَاءِ اللَّهِ الْحُسْنَى كُلِّهَا مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهَا وَمَا لَمْ أَعْلَمْ، مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ وَذَرَأَ وَبَرَأَ

A'udhu bi-wajhillahil-'Azim, alladhi laysa shay'un a'zamu minh, wa bi-kalimatillahit-tammat, allati la yujawizuhunna barrun wa la fajir, wa bi-asma'illahil-husna, kulliha ma 'alimtu minha wa ma lam a'lam, min sharri ma khalaqa wa dhara'a wa bara'.

I seek refuge in the Majestic Face of Allah, than which nothing is greater, and in Allah's perfect words which neither the righteous nor the wicked can transgress, and in all the beautiful Names of Allah — those that I know and those that I know not — from the evil of what He has created and shaped and originated.
