I use different things to advocate.  Sometimes in emails, sometimes phone calls, sometimes letters and sometimes in person.  One thing I have learned in advocating, is to make sure I have all the facts about whatever I am advocating for.  If I decide to discuss an issue of concern, I can expect questions will be asked, so I want to make sure I know everything I can about the issue.  I also try to use some real life situations of my own or someone I know (without using any names).  It is easier for people to understand the issue, when the advocator can provide real life situations and the effects the issue is having on people.

What do you do?  How has it worked for you?
