AL DAN (Alabama Disability Advocacy Network) is a grassroots cross disability coalition for networking and advocacy education. AL DAN is provided through a grant from the Alabama Council for Developmental Disabilities (ACDD) and is coordinated by disability organizations such as the Alabama Centers for Independent Living.
Alabama Disability Advocacy Network (AL DAN) Objectives are:
AL DAN 2009 Objectives have been met with currently over 300 members as well as Disability Advocacy Groups and Organizations and other Disability Service Organizations as members.
- Regional meetings/trainings.
- Develop Advisory Committee, define infrastructure of the organization.
- Statewide summit.
- Gubernatorial forum.
- Provide information on voting rights, voting registration, and legislative updates
- To have more than 500 members, at least 10 grassroots disability advocacy organizations, and at least 10 other disability groups/organizations
